Strawberry Fields!

June is officially strawberry season throughout New England! I love this time of year with the abundance of fruit! I have gone to local u-pick farms with my children and we enjoyed making one of our family favorites; a good old fashioned strawberry shortcake!
Check your local area to see where the best "pickins" are, pack a picnic and enjoy the afternoon.
Fact: the early Pilgrim settlers in Massachusetts loved eating the strawberries grown by the local Native Americans. They were cultivating strawberries as early as 1643!
In honor of strawberry season, I invite you to leave a comment about your favorite strawberry creation. It could be anything; a pie, dessert, lemondade, girly drink or even a craft! I look forward to reading about your strawberry treats!

Cupcake!

No, I didn't bake any cupcakes this weekend, or purchase any from my local bakery. However, I did enjoy a cupcake or two..............
this cupcake.....Cupcake wine from Cupcake Vineyards. How adorable is that? It's an inexpensive wine priced around $15 a bottle for a Chardonnay, Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon.
After a long Saturday filled with soccer and baseball games, plus the usual runs in between games, I was wiped out at the end of the day. After dinner and all were relaxed, Mr. Boston presented me with this bottle.
Reason: to celebrate the launching of my very first blog and successful first weeks of postings! Ohh, how sweet!
Mr. Boston had stopped in our local wine shop, saw this and thought, "How CUTE. This might be a good post." I kid you not, he actually said that to me.
Well, how CUTE was HE! ....Looks like the label was a pure selling feature. It's a great whimsical, girlie design. Mr. Boston did good!
We enjoyed the Cabernet. Perhaps next time, we'll have cupcakes and wine!
In the meantime, I think this would be a hit at Book Club or Mom's Night. - Cheers!

AAAHHH!....The Scents of New England

It's not "pink and green" or "kelly and navy", however, close your eyes for a moment,..take a deep breath,...try to concentrate on the scent of: ...

-blueberries in Maine
-balsam trees in New Hampshire
-maple sugar of Vermont
-cranberry bogs in Massachusetts
-Rhode Island's ocean
-nutmeg of Connecticut

These are scents reminiscent of each New England state and offered as a soap gift set made at New England's Pelle Dolce Soaps, www.pelledolcesoaps.com
I think this makes for a cute hostess gift if you are visiting and staying with friends or family in New England or the Islands this summer. Individual state or island soap bars are available too.
How cute are these for a guestroom or guest bathroom! I'll let you hunt for the preppy soap dish!
