June is officially strawberry season throughout New England! I love this time of year with the abundance of fruit! I have gone to local u-pick farms with my children and we enjoyed making one of our family favorites; a good old fashioned strawberry shortcake!Check your local area to see where the best "pickins" are, pack a picnic and enjoy the afternoon.
Fact: the early Pilgrim settlers in Massachusetts loved eating the strawberries grown by the local Native Americans. They were cultivating strawberries as early as 1643!
