Strawberry Fields!

June is officially strawberry season throughout New England! I love this time of year with the abundance of fruit! I have gone to local u-pick farms with my children and we enjoyed making one of our family favorites; a good old fashioned strawberry shortcake!
Check your local area to see where the best "pickins" are, pack a picnic and enjoy the afternoon.
Fact: the early Pilgrim settlers in Massachusetts loved eating the strawberries grown by the local Native Americans. They were cultivating strawberries as early as 1643!
In honor of strawberry season, I invite you to leave a comment about your favorite strawberry creation. It could be anything; a pie, dessert, lemondade, girly drink or even a craft! I look forward to reading about your strawberry treats!

  1. We just love strawberrries with just a little sugar on top. One of summer's pleasures.

  2. I eat them almost everyday mixed with blueberries(Jersey not Maine) and a tiny bit of sugar. ButcherBoy in North Andover has the most amazing strawberries all year round. Not sure where they get them, but they are soooooo good.

  3. My husband loves strawberries and his birthday is at the end of June...perfect timing here in New England! I usually make some sort of strawberry cake for his birthday, this year I'm going to puree the strawberries and add them to the homemade cake batter. I will probably frost it with whipped cream and decorate the top with strawberries of course!

  4. I spent last weekend making a Strawberry Rhubarb pie that will definitely be added to the family favorite list. We got the strawberries at a local farmers market at the beach -- fresh picked beats the super market any day of the week.
